Sermon Series Notes
The Book of Obadiah is a prophecy by Obadiah about the fall of Edom, a mountain-dwelling nation descended from Esau. The book is based on Obadiah's vision of an encounter with Yahweh, who chastises Edom for their arrogance and violence against their "brother Jacob". Obadiah accuses Edom's leaders of pride and self-exaltation and warns that what Babylon did to Judah will eventually happen to Edom. Obadiah prophesies that Edom will be destroyed and its civilization will be erased from history, but that the Negev will eventually inhabit the land.
“The day of the LORD is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head.”
Obadiah 1:15
